From the first key manager to a versatile solution portfolio
In 1991, Hans-Jürgen Grämer founded KEMAS, which is short for Key Management Systems. It all started in Grämer's previous company Robotron, located in what was called Karl-Marx-Stadt (today Chemnitz), and was triggered by an inefficient process - the manual, recorded issue and return of keys. In the morning there were long queues, in the evening, keys accumulated in enormous piles. These had to be sorted on to the classic "nail boards", a tedious and error-prone process. "There has to be a better way!", he thought, and the first prototype of an automated key management system was created.
Keys are still a topic at KEMAS, but no longer only in the literal sense. Over the years, the company has evolved to become a provider of automated, process-orientated transfer solutions. Whether keys, vehicles, equipment, documents, electronic equipment, textiles, IDs, weapons etc - all resources represent a value, enable access to subsequent resources, or must be used efficiently as part of the daily core business. KEMAS transfer solutions provide support in managing your daily tasks.
The requirements of our customers have become increasingly complex over the years and have evolved steadily - making them the engine for our own development. But why not have a look for yourself, to find out more about the step-by-step development of KEMAS over the past 25 years!
